Bio
Kathryn Blake, Pharm.D. is the Director of the Nemours Center for Pharmacogenomics and Translational Research and a Senior Research Scientist in the Center for Pharmacogenomics and Translational Research. She received her BS in Zoology from the University of North Carolina and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida. She completed a residency and fellowship in pulmonary pharmacotherapy at the University of Florida. She is board certified in Pharmacotherapy. In 2006 she received a K23 mentored training award from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute for 5 years for her project "Pharmacogenetics of Beta2-Agonists in Asthma". In 2012, she was awarded a 4-year $2 million NIH R01 grant for her project "Use of Mobile Devices and the Internet to Streamline an Asthma Clinical Trial". She has been a co-investigator on the Asthma Clinical Research Center network grant from the American Lung Association since 1999 and on AsthmaNet, a nationwide clinical research network created by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute in 2009. Her research interests are the pharmacogenomics of asthma drug therapy, racial differences in response to asthma drugs, and the effect of asthma and treatments in children with sickle cell disease. She serves on national committees including the FDA Pulmonary and Allergy Drugs Advisory Committee, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Research Advisory Panel, and she represents the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists on the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program Coordinating Committee. She has been principal investigator on over 65 clinical studies in the areas of asthma, allergy, and cystic fibrosis and co-investigator on an additional 30. She has over 60 peer-reviewed publications and 6 book chapters.
